Lana Del Rey - LA to the Moon Tour
SAN DIEGO, CA
Deciding to go to a concert last minute is something I've grown accustomed to. Unless it's an artist whose tickets I know will be impossible to get after the general sale, I'll most likely decide to go the day of the actual show.
Since I saw Lana a couple of months ago at the House of Blues (i wrote about it right here!), I wasn't planning on going to see her again because I felt like an arena show would never compare to the intimate 500 people gig in a small venue. But when the 15th rolled around my friend and I decided to go down to the venue and scope out the situation. We ended up getting tickets down there and I'm so glad I didn't miss out on this show.
Lana Del Rey's arena production was out of this world. The stage transformed into multiple sceneries, the beach, the ocean, the Hollywood Hills, and so many more. Lana's stage presence is still so captivating, she really is one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen. Everything about her is just so luring. Her voice, her clothes, her lyrics and the stories she tells in her songs, no wonder she's playing arenas on this tour; where else would she be able to fit all of Southern California young adults who would do anything just to have a glance of her?
LA to the Moon Tour was announced in order to promote her newly released album Lust For Life. There are a couple of songs I absolutely love from this record such as When the World Was at War We Kept Dancing, the title track Lust For Life, Love and Get Free which is very reminiscing of Radiohead's Creep.
After taking the time to thank the die hard fans in the front row of this arena GA, Lana surprised the crowd by performing her unreleased, underground song Serial Killer. Although never officially released, the crowd sang back every word, and that is the power these independent artists have over labels. The Internet is a powerful tool at their disposal when it comes to songs the labels reject, this is why artists like Chance The Rapper and Lana are able to draw out such big crowds regardless if they have a label or are releasing songs independently.
Nevertheless, I enjoyed every minute of this show, the production, the setlist, and Lana's stage presence, it was all perfect.
